LOVE I KNOW (2009)

Out of the wreck
You pulled me safely to shore
Tenderly
And with red nectar
Gave me comfort and more
I know it
Doesn’t seem fair
I can’t keep my mind
From staying sharply aware (of)
What I left behind

Someone’s waiting for me

So you think that I’m confused
But it’s LOVE I KNOW
You can argue and accuse
But it’s LOVE I KNOW
You don’t want to hear ’goodbye can we still be friends’
I don’t want to be a liar, I don’t want to pretend
Let me hold you then start letting me go
To the LOVE I KNOW

You sang Calypso
n luxuriant groves
Every night
And from your lips
I tasted honey and cloves
But love is
Calling me home
And its voice is clear
Don’t want to leave you alone
But I can’t stay here

Thinking of another

So you think that I’m confused
But it’s LOVE I KNOW
You can argue and accuse
But it’s LOVE I KNOW
You don’t want to hear ’goodbye can we still be friends’
I don’t want to be a liar, I don’t want to pretend
Let me hold you then start letting me go
To the LOVE I KNOW

Sometime after I won the 2008 ISC, I was contacted by a composer in Europe who had some tracks and wanted me to write some lyrics.

It’s hard to write lyrics to pre-existing tracks but I gave it my best.

Nothing satisfied him and we never completed a song. I kept asking for more guidance as to what he was looking for, but he wanted me to just intuit it.

I wrote at least two version of the original track title, "I Remember You" -- that lyric is posted.

I rewrote the same musical track two more times as "Broken Glass" and "When the World Began". All these lyrics are posted if you want to see me trying and trying to figure out what he really wanted.
