EVENING FALLS (2009)

(verse)

And did you stare at walls
Crimson
Like an old bordello

And did you lift your skirt
Slowly
For another fellow

(rise)

Close your eyes
And noone can see

(verse)

And did you lie among
Roses
Or in red carnations

And did the sermon quote
Romans
Or was it Galatians

(chorus)

I know
Evening falls
And you just can’t be trusted
And though
Evening falls
Patterns are readjusted
Evening
Falls hard

(verse)

The smell of victory
Stinging
Permeates the curtain

And did you find a small
Alcove
To ignore the hurt in

(chorus)

I know
Evening falls
And you just can’t be trusted
And though
Evening falls
Patterns are readjusted
Evening
Falls hard

(bridge -- no music written yet)

I watch you
The sun must be oppressive
Your eyes move
From side to side, obsessive
But night comes
And you become aggressive
Like a midnight owl
On the prowl

(chorus)

I know
Evening falls
And you just can’t be trusted
And though
Evening falls
Patterns are readjusted
Evening
Falls hard

Sometime after I won the 2008 ISC, I was contacted by a composer in Europe who had some tracks and wanted me to write some lyrics.

It’s hard to write lyrics to pre-existing tracks but I gave it my best.

I don’t think I even still have the music this one was written to. It’s pretty generic compared to my other stuff, but some good images in it, especially in the verses.
