SUNCATCHER (2006)

(v1)
When was the last time I drove all night
Just to see someone’s face in the radiant dawn
Last year the curtains were drawn
And I sat in an inner room
For a long afternoon

Now I almost have to squint
Cause the sun is too bright
And you’re part of the glint
And I’m
Finally catching the light
Opening up in pure surrender
Losing my mind in the perfect splendor
Of second sight
Finally catching the light

(v2)
When was the last time I spent the day
Digging holes in the earth and distributing seeds
Last year the yard was all weeds
And I watched all the flowers fade
In continuous shade

Now we’re kneeling in the grass
In a blanket of white
Amid copper and glass
And I’m
Finally catching the light
Opening up in pure surrender
Losing my mind in the perfect splendor
Of second sight
Finally catching the light

(bridge)
I’m amazed that the whisper of bells
Can transform a breath of air
And a flash of glass and metal
Casts a fragile, precious glare

When the garden blooms and the light reflects
And you’re in my life and I reconnect
And you make me into something
I have never been
How do we begin
Now we can begin

(v3)
This is the first time in far too long
That I’ve wanted to wake at the earliest hour
Sometimes I feel overpowered
At how quickly my world reversed
And the shadows dispersed

I am dazzled every day
By the blaze you ignite
I absorb every ray
And I’m
Finally catching the light
Opening up in pure surrender
Losing my mind in the perfect splendor
Of second sight
Finally catching the light

A friend wanted a song to compose for someone else. It had to be a lyric about starting over....having been divorced but now having met someone else. Had to be a very positive uplifting lyric.

Still waiting for the song to be composed, but the musician said it was one of the best lyrics she had been sent.
