SLENDER THREAD (2006)

I knew the risks when I kissed your lips
My common sense has never been weaker
My life’s a film noir, I like to go too far
I’ve always been a sort of thrill-seeker

I never counted on you
Getting far under my skin
I try to disengage
But my nails dig in
Hanging by a

Slender Thread
Are there words that I haven’t said?
It all could break
Make no mistake
I still can’t shake
This sense of dread...

I like to be the one to say goodbye, we’re done
I can’t seem to cut loose the connection
I’m wandering in the dark, I had the exit marked
But somehow I lost my sense of direction

I never counted on you
Getting far under my skin
I try to disengage
And my nails dig in
Hanging by a

Slender Thread
Are there words that I haven’t said?
It all could break
Make no mistake
I still can’t shake
This sense of dread
Our love is hanging quietly
Dangling by a Slender Thread

Throw me down a lifeline
Hurry up, don’t stall
Are you gonna rescue me
Or wait for me to fall?

I never counted on you
Getting far under my skin
I try to disengage
And my nails dig in
I’m hanging by a

Slender Thread
Are there words I haven’t said?, etc.

This was always a dance tune in my head, and I imagined a female singer. But an opportunity arose to put together some songs to pitch to a male star for his new CD, so I gave this to Eduard, and he nailed it.

It’s still danceable, but with that funk and sense of danger Eduard always brings to his music.
